Description	:	Linn W. Barton, son of Azur and Sarah Hare Barton was born six miles South of Mt. Pleasant, March 26, 1877 and passed away at his home in Salem, January 31, 1951 at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 5 days, having been in failing health for over a year. On Dec 25, 1900 he was united in marriage to Clara Mosher. On Dec 25, 1900 he was united in marriage to Clara Mosher. Walter Barton of Salem survives. Mr. Barton was converted to Christ in 1896 and united with the Congregational church of Salem. He has been an active member, worker, and attendant since that time. He also was interested and active in community affairs, having served on the school board for a period of years. On Dec 24, 1950 Mr. & Mrs. Barton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with open house at their Salem home, where they have lived since 1940, when they moved from their farm home west of town. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Clara, his son Walter, six grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother, Edwin of Salem, one sister, Mrs. Maude Farmer of Webb City, MO, and several nieces and nephews, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Kasper Funeral Home at the Congregational Church Friday p.m. in charge of the pastor, Jay N. Waterman. Mrs. Emma Jane Watts sang two numbers accompanied by Mrs. Floyd Beery. Pall Bearers were Scott Watts, Kenneth Mosher, Wilbur Watts, Clyde Bunker, Max Barton, Herbert Garretson. Interment was in the Friends cemetery. Mr. Linn Barton and Miss Clara Mosher were united in the bonds of holy matrimony at the home of the bride's father, Mr. Alonzo Mosher on Christmas night at 6 o'clock. Rev. Drew of the Congregational church of Salem, IA officiating. BARTON - MOSHER MARRIED About forty guests including the relatives and a few old friends and near relatives were present. After the ceremony a bountiful wedding supper and a very pleasant evening were enjoyed. Many nice and useful presents were brought by friends and relatives to help these young people in their new home making. Mr. & Mrs. Barton are among the many estimable young people of the southwest country side, and the best wishes of a large circle of friends go with them to their new home, and all join in heartily wishing them a prosperous journey through life. Mr. & Mrs. Barton expect to settle soon on the Kramling place about three miles S.E. of Salem, and we are all glad to know that they are to remain in the old community.
