Miss Alene Sloey sang a beautiful solo, followed by the wedding march by Mr. and Mrs. James Sloey. The bridal couple were attended by Miss Edith Larkins sister of the groom and Mr. Ervine Rieke. D.L. After the ceremony the bridal party enjoyed a very sumptuous supper served by the bride's Belvidere girl friends. Mrs. Larkins is well known at Belvidere nad (sic) Chester where the family have spent a number of years. The groom, son of Mr. Dan Larkins, has spent most of his life near Chester. He was recently discharged from the army where he had been for a little over a year. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Larkins will make their home on a farm near Chester. ============================ The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, February 2, 1989; pg. 16 Lloyd Larkins Lloyd Erving Larkins, son of Daniel Wood and Mary Elizabeth Whitcomb Larkins, was born on the family farm in Republic County, September 20, 1895 and died January 22, 1989, at the Blue Valley Home in Hebron, at the age of 93 years, four months and one day. He attended the Prairie Flower rural school in Republic County and at the age of 10 moved with his family to a farm near Stoddard, Nebr. He graduated from the eighth grade in the rural school near their farm. He was united in marriage to Katherine Edna Walters in 1930 and to this union two children were born. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1918 and served 14 months with 355th, 89 Division Ambulance Company during World War I. He returned to farming with his father until moving to Chester where he worked at various jobs. He was employed by the Larkins Oil Company when he retired. He was a member of Saxton Post No. 180, American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Robert Larkins, of Hickman, Nebr., one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Elinor) Evenson of Brookings, S.D.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 25 at the Church of Christ of Chester, conducted by Rev. David Miles. Graveside services were conducted by the Saxton Post No. 180, American Legion of Hebron. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery.
