Description	:	Mary Elizabeth Whitcomb, the daughter of Branch and Mary Ann Whitcomb was born May 2 1864, near Arvelia, Scotland County, Missouri, and departed this life at the Munford hospital, Belleville Kansas, August 14 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 12 days, after many weeks of patient suffering. Her early life as spent in Northern Missouri, where she grew to womanhood. She came with her parents to Republic County, Kansas in 1885. To this union were born five children, two of whom have preceded her in death: Earl Elvin, who passed away at the age of nine months and twenty one days, and Mrs. Edith Reike who passed away 8 years ago. Those left to mourn her passing are her husband, two sons, Ray and Lloyd; and one daughter Mrs Zelda Mosier, all of Chester; six grandchildern: three sisters, Mrs. O.M. Larkins, of Republic, Kansas, Mrs. L. Rieke of Chester, and Mrs. G.A. Sickles, of Davenport; and two brothers, D.I. Whitcomb, of Adel, iowa and RR Whitcomb, of Freedom, Oklahoma; and a host of other relative and friends. Although not a member of any church, her Bible was her constant companion and a great source of comfort to her. She was a faithful wife and a kind and loving mother. No sacrifice was too great to make for her loved ones. She will be greatly missed in her home and by thoe who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Reverend Harold Reel. Interment was made in the Chester Cemetery.
