He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a dental technician while stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. Lloyd married Janice Maxine Finnestad on June 15, 1957 at Calvary Lutheran in Lee, IL. He delivered milk for Oatman's Dairy before returning to Iowa to help his dad farm in 1961. Lloyd and Jan purchased an acreage in rural Clarinda, IA where the couple raised their four children. He was employed by Conoco delivering fuel to area farmers while also raising livestock and stewarding the land. In 1982 Lloyd began working for Interstate Insurance and the couple relocated to Papillion, NE for 31 years and then to LaVista for the past three years. He was a dedicated and successful salesman for the company as he knocked on doors all over the Midwest giving people the assurance of cancer protection. Lloyd and Jan also began a real estate business that Jan continues to manage today. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Hazel Oxley; sisters, Pauline (Merle) Smith, Vesta (Adrian) Andrew; brother Lowell (Eva) Oxley; brothers-in-law, Lawson Miller, and Jack Bridie. Survivors include his wife, Jan; sibling Audrey Miller Bridie of Clarinda; children, Allan Oxley (Mary) of Papillion, Cindy Rope of Clarinda, Janel Lesan (Bob) of Iowa City, IA, Dale Oxley (Mark) of Emeryville, CA; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Over the course of Lloyd and Jan's 58 years of marriage, it was in the latter years that Jan recalls as his happiest. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren often playing cards at the kitchen table where he could only grin when he undoubtedly got caught cheating. Although his cancer began to wear on his body, he kept current with the news of the day and found enjoyment watching and discussing the recent political debates. With respect to Lloyd's wishes, the family will meet privately and there will not be a service; however, the family would like, in lieu of flowers, to donate contributions in his memory to the Josie Harper Residence Hospice House with sincere gratitude and utmost appreciation. Memorials may be sent to "Lloyd Oxley Memorial" at any Pinnacle Bank. Lloyd's final resting place will be at Cedar Dale Cemetery, Papillion, NE 68046.
