Description	:	Lois was the daughter of Whittier Beard. Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Lennox (Beard), 76, who died Wednesday morning in Henry County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. William and Francis Kinsey officiated in the Economy Friends Meeting House and burial was in the Economy Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Economy, Mrs. Lennox was a member of a pioneer Economy-area family. Read More	Lois was the daughter of Whittier Beard. Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Lennox (Beard), 76, who died Wednesday morning in Henry County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. William and Francis Kinsey officiated in the Economy Friends Meeting House and burial was in the Economy Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Economy, Mrs. Lennox was a member of a pioneer Economy-area family. Her great-great-grandfather, Charles Osborn, platted the town in 1825, and she owned and operated Lois's Variety Store in a house built before 1838 on land once owned by Osborn. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, the result of being stricken by polio in 1916, she was active in community affairs. She played a prominent role in the town's sesquicentennial observance in 1975 and was Author of "Economy Times" a history of the area. She was a correspondent for The Exponent/ Mrs. Lennox was a member of the Economy Friends Meeting and Funathla Society and had served as Perry Township chairman oof the Mental Health Associatio. Among survivors are a brother Herbert Beard, of Economy and three sisters, Marian Hawk, of Lynn, Mrs. Helen Heacox, of Hagerstown, and Mrs. Edith Gamber, of Economy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold G. Lennox. Memorial contributions may be made to the Economy Friends Meeting, or the Wayne County Easter Seal Society for Crippled Children and adults. Culberson-Gray Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Lois authored a book, "Economy Times" covering much of the Beard genealogy and history.
