Shuler, 77, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Wetmore to Carl R. and Reba M. (Rokes) Shuler. He married Mary R. Blochlinger on Oct. 6, 1951, in Clyde, Kan. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1999. Lorence worked for the Cloud County Highway Dept. for 44 years and 8 months. During his off time from the highway department, he farmed in Republic County. His biggest and best hobby was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, all of Concordia. He is survived by four daughters, Linda Haist (Ernest), of Concordia, Betty Holechek (Roger), of Valley Center, Avis Brooks and friend Tom, of Concordia, and Carla and fiance Daniel Rosenthal, of Malone, Wis.; four sons, Larry (Kim) Shuler, of Concordia, Edward Shuler and friend Angie, of Wetmore, John (Sheryl) Shuler, of Concordia, and Carl Shuler, of Kansas City , Mo.; two sisters, Darlene McCann, of Clay Center, and Viola Cannon, of Goff; 23 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents; three brothers, Harold, Lyle and Jerry; sister, Bonnie Joe; son-in-law, Ron Rae Brooks; and one great-grandson, Samuel Lorence Myers. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with vigil services at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with the Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
