Born at Torbrook Mines in November, 1889, a daughter of the late Archibald and Edith Banks she had lived her entire life in this community, except for a short time spent in the United States. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the W.M.A.S. The deceased was twice married, her first marriage was to James Evans, who predeceased her in 1919. To this union six children were born. In 1930 she married Aubrey Crouse, Of this union there was one son. Surviving are her husband, two daughters: (Edith), Mrs. Lorimer Stronach, of Forest Glade; (Edna), Mrs. Ervin Gates, of Halifax; four sons, William Evans, of New Hampshire; James and Richard Evans, serving in the Canadian Army overseas; and Aubrey Jr. at home; one sister, Mrs. Earle Barrows, of Worcester, Mass.; and three brothers, William Banks of Framingham, Mass.; Guilford Banks, of Petersham, Mass.; and Winslow Banks, of Timmins, Ontario. A son, Emery Evans, and two sisters, Mrs. Lilla Payson and Mrs. Ida Jolly, predeceased her. The funeral service was held on Wednesday at the Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A.G. McClare, assisted by Rev. D.C. Boothroyd of Kingston, and Rev. R.W. Lindsay, of Margaretville. During the service a favourite hymn of the deceased: “I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go, Dear Lord,” was sung. The floral tributes from relatives and friends were many and beautiful. Pallbearers were: Robert Thompson, Arthur Jefferson, Judson Armstrong and Aubrey Sanford. Interment was in the family lot adjoining the United Church.
