"In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bowman is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Betty Lou Applegate of Carmichael; Mrs. Ethelyn Griffin of Freedom; and Mrs. JoAnn Pierce of San Rafael; two sons, William J. Bowman and Clyde A. Bowman, Jr., both of Chico; 18 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Velma Meyer of San Leandro, and a brother, Lloyd Albright of Santa Barbara. "Entombment will take place in the Mausoleum of Prayer at the Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be George Kading, Plez Guynn, Ord Canfield, Herbert V. Page, and W.W. Sopher. The multi-volume 'Encyclopedia of World Art' has been donated to the Chico City Library in memory of the late Louella Albright Bowman, who died in 1968. The set of books was given to the library by the Bowman family at the behest of Arden Allen of Sebastopol. Allen earlier had founded a book donor program for the library and had donated a multi-volume set to the facility. He instigated the participation of the Bowman family in the latest philanthropic venture. A continuing donor book fund is being undertaken by the Allens and Bowmans for future benefit to the local library. Taking a look at the 'World Art' books are [photo not part of this record] (left to right): David Rush, chairman of the City Library Commission; Clyde Bowman of 1331 Manchester Road, husband of the late Mrs. Bowman; and Bowman's cousin, Allen. The encyclopedia is another in a number of hoped-for donations to be used in a proposed 15,000-square-foot city-county library complex to be built in the near future, according to Rush.
