Burns, beloved husband, brother, step-father, uncle, and friend died peacefully Sunday, July 11, 2010, in Community Hospital of Anaconda, after his brave battle with renal cancer, with his loving wife, Shirley, by his side. Lou was born Aug. 18, 1935, to Mary and John Burns in Sioux City, Iowa, where he attended school before his three years in the Navy during the Korean War. Read More	ANACONDA, MT - Louis "Lou" P. Burns, beloved husband, brother, step-father, uncle, and friend died peacefully Sunday, July 11, 2010, in Community Hospital of Anaconda, after his brave battle with renal cancer, with his loving wife, Shirley, by his side. Lou was born Aug. 18, 1935, to Mary and John Burns in Sioux City, Iowa, where he attended school before his three years in the Navy during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he worked on the microwave tower construction crew around the country. Lou then began his apprenticeship as a glazier in Reno, Nev. He spent time in California, but returned to Reno where he retired from his work that he excelled in and loved. Following retirement, Lou and his wife of 20 years, Maxine Gurley, moved to land he had purchased on Foster Creek Road in Anaconda, where he built his home. Lou loved his country life and his spectacular view of Mount Haggin and enjoyed rebuilding old tractors. Some years after Maxine's death, Lou met his good friend and dear companion, Shirley Kalcso, and they were married May 18, 2001. Lou and Shirley are members of Anaconda Catholic Community Church where services were held for Lou on Thursday, July 15, 2010. Rite of Committal Services followed in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors presented by the Anaconda American Legion. Lou was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Tom; baby brother, Eugene; and stepdaughter, Pat Gurley. Lou is survived by [redacted for privacy] Thank you to all the family and friends who came together to celebrate Lou's life. In loving memory, "we are one." "I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light.
