Harris and Margaret Ann (Schriner) Harris, was born February 1, 1895, on the Harris homestead, six miles North and 1 mile West of Nelson, Nebraska, and passed away September 27, 1984, at the Nuckolls County Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 27 days. She attended Shiloh rural grade school near Nelson and graduated from Nelson High School in 1915. She was married to Irvin McCutchan of Nelson on April 25, 1917, at Clay Center, Nebraska. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Evelyn Luth of Grand Island, Bob McCutchan of Nelson, Duane McCutchan of Littleton, Colorado, and a son who passed away in infancy. They lived for forty years on a farm Northeast of Nelson until 1957 at which time they retired and moved to her present home in Nelson. Isa was baptized as a child in the Little Blue River North of Nelson. She was then affiliated with the United Brethren Church, five miles North of Nelson. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Oak Community Church. Her life-long commitment to her Lord and Savior was obvious to all up to the final day of her earthly life. She was active for years in Child Evangelism Fellowship and taught classes in the Nelson area. She also had a love and interest in Foreign Missions. For many years she opened her home to the Neighborhood Bible Study Group for meetings. She was a former member of the Pleasant View Ladies Quilting Group. She always had time for her neighbors and relatives in times of need. Her grandchildren, as all children, were the highlight of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin; an infant son; her son-in-law, Joe Luth; seven brothers and four sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Mrs. Evelyn Luth, Bob McCutchan and wife Maxine, Duane McCutchan and wife Gayle; six grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Blanche Adams of Grand Island, Audrey McCutchan of Nelson and Alice Vining of San Bernardino, California. Funeral services were held Monday, October 1, 1984, from the Christian Church in Nelson with Rev. Richard Markland and Rev. Henry Knotts officiating. Music was provided by Verleen Gharring and Joe Ferebee singing a duet of "Ivory Palaces" and "Old Rugged Cross" with Myrtle Worley as accompanist and organist. Casketbearers were: Earl Adamson, Dale Adamson, Gene Holsteen, Ivan Gharring, Marvin Oltmans and Jack Wehrman. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska. Arrangements were made by Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson.
