She had been quite ill for several years. Miss Bevans and her sister, Carrie Bevans, were active Osceola merchants for many years, and ran ready-to-wear shops on the northeast corner of the square and later on the southoast corner of the square for many years. Miss Bevans was born September 27, 1883 in Clarke county, the daughter of William and Cornelia Ann Monroe Bevans. She was educated in the Clarke county schools and was never married. She was a member of the Osceola Methodist church. Surviving relatives include two nieces: Mrs. Robert Hootman of Bakersfield, Calif.; and Mrs. John Jeffers of Osceola; 2 nephews: Larry and Jerry Hootman of Bakersfield and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters: Mrs. Mac Turk, Carrie Bevans and Ann Bevans; and a grand niece: Cathy Ann Jeffers. Contributor: Leslie W. Saint
