Description	:	Louisa Mary, daughter of Peter and Mary Spring, was born December 30, 1850, in Rontegan, Switzerland, and departed from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leon Rider, on October 18, 1935, at 11:20 a.m. at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 16 days. She came to American in May 1872 and on January 29, 1873 in Monticello, Jones county, Iowa, was united in marriage to Gottlieb Kernen. Read More	Louisa Mary, daughter of Peter and Mary Spring, was born December 30, 1850, in Rontegan, Switzerland, and departed from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leon Rider, on October 18, 1935, at 11:20 a.m. at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 16 days. She came to American in May 1872 and on January 29, 1873 in Monticello, Jones county, Iowa, was united in marriage to Gottlieb Kernen. Then they came to Corning and lived one year at Mercer Center and in the year 1874, moved to Nodaway, where they lived until the death of Mr. Kernen, on October 9, 1934, after which Mrs. Kernen spent three months with her daughter, Clara in Denver. Because of serious illness she returned to the home of her daughter, Louisa, where she had been confined to her bed for nine months. To this union, nine children were born, namely, Fred, Bert, William, Henry, Charlie, and Mrs. Louisa Rider, all of Nodaway; John of Carbon, Mrs. Clara Munson of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Pauline Cummings, deceased. Besides the children, Mrs. Kernen leaves to mourn her departure nineteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Kernen was the last of her generation of the Spring family. She was converted early in life to the Evangelical faith, later having united with the Presbyterian church in Nodaway, remaining a member until death. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Presbyterian church at Nodaway, Rev. Ray Cornwell was in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Z. A. Zook. The singers were: Mrs. Roy Richards, and Mrs. Harold Everett, Wayne Emry and Martin Taylor, assisted at the piano by Mrs. Floyd Neill. The pallbearers were six of Mrs. Kernen's grandchildren: Leslie Kernen, Russell Kernen, Gilbert Rider, Albert Rider, Theron Kernen and Delmer Kernen. Burial was made in the Nodaway cemetery.
