Description	:	OBITUARY: Mrs. Fred Kurth, nee Louisa Blume, was born in Germany, July 7, 1860. As a young girl she came to America with her parents and two sisters to live in the vicinity of Clayton Center (Clayton Co., IA). Here she received her instructions in the word of God. She became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Farmersburg and of the Frauen Verein and the adult Bible class of that church. She was united in marriage to Fred Kurth, December 10, 1877. Together with him she lived west of Farmersburg and finally purchased a farm which continued to be their... Read More	OBITUARY: Mrs. Fred Kurth, nee Louisa Blume, was born in Germany, July 7, 1860. As a young girl she came to America with her parents and two sisters to live in the vicinity of Clayton Center (Clayton Co., IA). Here she received her instructions in the word of God. She became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Farmersburg and of the Frauen Verein and the adult Bible class of that church. She was united in marriage to Fred Kurth, December 10, 1877. Together with him she lived west of Farmersburg and finally purchased a farm which continued to be their home until they retired in 1923. This union was blessed with 10 children: Ella, Edwin, Fred, Alma, Hedwig, Elmer and Lester; three children, Harvey, Hulda and an infant son preceded her in death. Mrs. Kurth enjoyed the rare privilege of celebrating her golden wedding anniversary in 1927. Her husband was taken from her by death, July 3, 1931. For about two years she lived alone in her home, then moved in with her daughter Alma, here in Farmersburg, where she found a good home. She died of old age with complications on June 29th at 7:00 a.m.. Many days of sickness had filled her last years of life. She has reached the age of 78 years, 11 months and 22 days. Her death is mourned by her children, Ella Engelhardt, Edwin, Fred, Alma, Hedwig Fuelling, Elmer and Lester, 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two sister(sic), Mrs. Louis Wilke of Elkader and Louis Havill of Guttenberg. We wish to thank also for the beautiful floral offerings and especially do we thank Rev. Adix for his daily calls and words of comfort.
