Lucille Deonne Gansen was born on June 11, 1926 to Daniel and Iva (Chambers) Mahoney in Nashua, Iowa. She attended Clarksville schools and was a 1944 graduate of Charles City High School. After graduation, Lucille moved to Washington D.C. where she studied at the Pentagon to become a government clerk in the Quartermaster Corps. Gansen, age 87, of Elma, Iowa passed away on December 21, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Lucille Deonne Gansen was born on June 11, 1926 to Daniel and Iva (Chambers) Mahoney in Nashua, Iowa. She attended Clarksville schools and was a 1944 graduate of Charles City High School. After graduation, Lucille moved to Washington D.C. where she studied at the Pentagon to become a government clerk in the Quartermaster Corps. Later she returned to Charles City where she worked as a clerk in various catalog stores. Lucille was united in marriage to Phillip Gansen on September 11, 1946 at Fort Campbell Kentucky. The couple made their home in Charles City. In subsequent years Phillip and Lucille farmed in the Riceville and Elma areas. Then in 1991 they moved to their present home in Elma. Lucille enjoyed baking bread, gardening, fishing, crocheting, playing cards and games with family and friends and also spending time with her family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Rosary Society. Lucille is survived by her children, Phillip (Linda) Gansen of Cedar Falls, IA, William (Alice) Gansen of Toddville, IA, Daniel (Laura) Gansen of Cedar Falls, IA, Paul (Linda) Gansen of Alta Vista, IA, Jon (Karri) Gansen of Mason City, IA and Ellen (Steve) Sanders of Highlands Ranch, CO; her sisters, Carol (Mike) Sullivan of Oconomowoc, WI and Kathy (Jim) Cowlishaw of International Falls, MN; her brother Tom (Vicki) Mahoney of New Hope, MN; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phillip; her sons Timothy and Christopher Gansen; one great-granddaughter, Grace Gansen and two sisters, Norma Jacobs and Alice Uecker. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Conway-Markham Funeral Home - Elma 508 Maple St., Elma, IA 50628, Burial will be held at a later date.
