Romberg, known to many as "Gram" or "Aunt Lou" passed away on October 11, 2015 at the age of 96 surrounded by her family. Lou was born August 28, 1919 on the Elmendorf homestead in Sterns, Montana. She was the daughter of George Adams and Grace (Elmendorf) Adams and grew up in a large family consisting of 11 siblings, helping raise her younger siblings while attending school in both Wolf Creek and Craig. Lou married Myron Romberg on February 1, 1937 and made their home in Wolf Creek, MT, remaining there for the rest of their lives. Myron passed away in 1986, just short of their 50th wedding anniversary. Lou was a generous and caring person. There was always a hot meal and a place to sleep for any Wolf Creek "stray" that might show up. The Romberg household was one to the first to have a TV and the kids would have the TV Gang come over every Wednesday night to watch. Not only did she raise her own three children, she raised various other kids around Wolf Creek and two of her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and baker, her house always smelling of baked bread and rolls. She was the Matriarch of the family and everyone always gathered at her home for a great meal and game of cards. She had a great love for playing cards which she did until her final days. She became the local historian of Wolf Creek. If there were questions about a happening in Wolf Creek you could go to Lou for the answer. In her late teens she began helping her mother with the county elections. On May 3, 2011 the Lewis and Clark commissioners proclaimed "Lou Romberg Day" to honor her 70 plus years as an election judge in Lewis and Clark County. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Myron, son Roy, grandchildren Tommy and Tammy Evans, Great-grandson Travis Evans and son-in-law Kenny Evans. She is survived by her daughters Patsy A. Romberg of Wolf Creek and Margaret M. Evans of Deer Lodge. Grandchildren Jolene (Chris) Giarde, E. Helena, Rory Romberg, Havre, Dean (Nikki) Johnson, Helena, Debra (Lance) Stalnaker, Helena, DeAnn (Tom) Cavanaugh, Helena, Dan (Bonnie) Johnson, Bozeman, Terrry (Lorraine) Evans, Deer lodge, great-grandchildren Nicole, Krystal, Rebecca, Deven, Haley, Layne, Regan, Austin, Andrea, Josey and Taylor and great-great grandchildren, Kelsey and Brady and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. During her last year she was blessed to be living with her granddaughter Jolene, husband Chris and very special great-grandson "Austi Boy". She will be truly missed by all those who knew her. At Lou's request there will not be a funeral but a gathering for a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karly Huseby, Matija McLaughlin, Gina Thomas and special family friend Kevin Wright for the wonderful care and love given to her in the final months of her life.
