Philip & Lucinda (Allen) Stoneburner were Vera's grandparents. Vera and John were living at 350 S. Hazel St., Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351. Vera wrote about her grandparents: "I never saw him. I was born in 1886, you see I am pretty old. He and his wife (who was Lucinda Allen of Logan, Ohio) and their 8 children came--in country east of Upper Sandusky, in a wagon with a team of horses. One of their horses died so they settled in a cabin here and grandfather died 2 years later of heart trouble. I am most sure he was American born, in Pennsylvania. Mother said he was Pen. Dutch. They were enroute to Logan, Ohio when they got this far and never got any farther. We had a grandson, Richard Tschantz, who graduated Veterinary School, Ohio State. We live in Upper Sandusky, if you are up this way stop by. Upper S. is on Lincoln Highway, Route 30. I am not much help, but am glad to let you know what I do know." Vera may have been mistaken about her grandfather having been born in Pennsylvania. In 1850 and 1860, Phillip Stoneburner age 10 OH and 20 OH was living with his parents William Stoneburner 39 VA and 49 VA and Margaret 37 VA and 46 VA along with some of his siblings and farming in the Marion Twp., Hocking Co., OH census. I don't know where William & Margaret Stoneburner were in 1870, but in the 1880 census they were living in Eden Twp., Wyandot Co., OH as William Stoneburner 70 VA, Margaret Stoneburner 66 VA, son Samuel Stoneburner 30 OH, and grandson James Stoneburner 10 OH. James age 10 was probably James the son of Phillip & Lucinda (Allen) Stoneburner, who were also living in Eden Twp., Wyandot Co. in 1880.
