Corbett died at 1 o'clock this morning in St. Mary's hospital. Mrs. Corbett had been living for more than a year in Kansas City, and was taken sick there about two weeks ago. Her condition was one of general weakening of the vital organs, with a complication of diseases, and she grew rapidly worse. She was brought to Emporia last Saturday and taken to the hospital. Mrs. Corbett was Miss Lucy Lunbeck, and was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in 1845. She was married to Moses Corbett in Leon, Iowa, December 25, 1871, and lived for many years in Iowa. In 1891 the Corbett family came to Emporia, where they lived until about a year ago October, when Mr. and Mrs. Corbett went to Kansas City. Mrs. Corbett was the mother of three children, a daughter who died in infancy, and two sons, Henry C., of Kansas City, and Fred R., of Emporia. Besides her husband and sons, she leaves four sisters, Mrs. A. L. Curry and Mrs. C. M. Ketcham, of Leon, Iowa; Miss Cora Lunbeck of Mason City, Iowa; Miss Care (sic) Lunbeck, of Seattle, Wash.; and one brother, N. L. Lunbeck of Emporia. Mrs. Corbett was a woman of singular personality and force of character. For a number of years she conducted a rooming and boarding house for students, and the Corbett club was a favorite place among Normal students of a few years go. During later years she made several trips as conductor and guide for tourists. Among these trips was one made to the World's Fair at St. Louis, another to the Seattle exposition and another to the Jamestown exhibition. She had much excentive ability and her business ventures were usually successful. Characteristic of her nature was the way she held up against sickness. For several years she had been suffering, but she would never admit to it, and did not succumb to disease until her whole system broke down. Mrs. Corbett was almost a life-long member of the Christian Church. She also belonged to the Knights & Ladies of Security. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred R. Corbett, 222 West Fifth Avenue. Corbett died this morning at one o'clock in St. Mary's hospital of general debility and complications with hermoplagae. The Corbetts came to Emporia in July 1891 and for a number of year(s) she ran a rooming and boarding house for students. After this she made several trips as chaperone for tourists among these are the Saint Louis Fair, the Portland Exposition, the Jamestown, Va., Exposition. The Corbetts moved to Kansas City in October, 1908 where they have since resided. Mrs. Corbett was taken ill two weeks ago and was brought to Emporia last Saturday. Mrs. Corbett was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in 1884 (sic) and was married to Moses Corbett at Leon, Iowa in 1871. She leaves her husband and two sons, Fred Corbett of this city, manager of the Whitley Opera House and Henry Corbett of Kansas City and daughter Lois who had made her home with the Corbetts since early childhood. Besides these she leaves four sisters and one brother, N. L. Lunbeck of this city, Mrs. A. L. Curry and Mrs. C. N. Ketchan of Leon, Iowa, Miss Cora Lunbeck, Mason City, Iowa and Miss Clara Lunbeck, Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Corbett was almost a life member of the Christian Church, and was characterized among her friends as a woman of great executive ability always loving and kind to others and leaves many friends who mourn her death. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock at the residence of her son Fred, 222 West Fifth Avenue and will be conducted by Rev. Frank Durham of the First Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be selected from the K and L of Security of which lodge she was a member. Interment will be made in Maplewood.
