(Source: Brown County, OH Marriage Records) =================== The Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, April 26, 1945; pg. 1 Mrs. Lucy Conn Died Tuesday Came to Superior In 1879; Served As Librarian for Many Years Mrs. Lucy Jean Conn, long time resident of Superior, and librarian of the Superior Carnegie library (sic) for many years, passed away at her home in Superior, Tuesday April 24. She was 85 years, 3 months and 13 days of age. Mrs. Conn, who was Miss Lucy Jean Lowry before her marriage to Francis S. Conn on July 1, 1879, was born Jan. 11, 1860 at Ripley, Ohio. She lived there until her marriage when she came with her husband, to Superior, then a small frontier town without a railroad. In 1885 they moved to Sutton, Nebr., where they lived until after Mr. Conns death, August 6, 1898, when Mrs. Conn and her four. children returned to Superior, where she has since resided. Mrs. Conn was one of the first members of the First Presbyterian church (sic) of Superior, and was always a faithful and. active member, holding many positions of trust in the church and Sunday school. She served as librarian here from the time of the opening of the Superior Carnegie library (sic) in 1909 until 1937. Mrs. Conn was the mother of five children, of whom only the eldest, Mrs. Julia Eyre of Superior, survives. There are 13 grandchilren (sic) and 10 great grandchildren. Three of the grandsons, Doak Conn jr., Lowry Conn and Malcom Conn, and two great grandsons, John Phillip Barber and Larry Whitney are now serving with the armed forces. Also surviving are a brother, Charles Lowry of Syracuse, N. T, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Crawford of Pittsburgh, Pa, and Mrs. Julia Keifer of Bostwick. Funeral services will be held from the First Presbyterian church (sic) Friday, April 27 at 2 p. m, with Rev. J. W. Kile officiating.
