Warren Keifer, jr., a Nuckolls county (sic) resident for 71 years, passed away Sunday June 2, at the age of 100 years, 7 months and 17 days. Mrs. Keifer, who was Miss Julia Stevens Lowry (sic), before her marriage, was born at Ripley, O., Oct. 15, 1856. She was the daughter of William R. and Rebekah Goodrich Lowery. On June 20, 1886, she was united in marriage to J. Warren Keifer, jr., the eldest son of General J. Warren Keifer of Springfield, O. Her husband died Aug. 11, 1954. Mrs. Keifer attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and for a time before her marriage, she taught school. Mr. Keifer had been in Nebraska for some time, and following the wedding, the couple came to this county and lived on a farm south of Bostwick, for the rest of their lives. When they came west, they brought Mrs. Keifer's piano, one of the first pianos in this area. While quite young she became a member of the Presbyterian church (sic) in Ripley, O., later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church (sic) in Superior, where she was a member at the time of her death. Her family had been staunch Presbyterians for many generations and provided many ministers who served Presbyterian churches. Her own father was a wood-worker by trade, skilled in the shaping of window frames and the carving of altar tables. For many years Mrs. Keifer was an active member of the Kit-ki-ha-ki chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Superior, and for a time served as its chaplain. Four children survive Mrs. Keifer: two sons, Joseph W. and Oswin of Bostwick, and two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Bell of Superior and Mrs. Margaret McLafferty of Lincoln. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Megrue Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, June 4, conducted by Rev. Wilbur Swan, pastor of the First Presbyterian church (sic). Interment was in Evergreen cemetery (sic). - Superior Express
