Read More	BLANKE, LULA RUBY PEARL—Lula Ruby Pearl Blanke, daughter of William H. and Viola Mussman Blanke, was born July 24, 1912, at Geneva. Lula passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva on September 6, 1990, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 13 days. She lived in Geneva all her life and was a 1929 graduate of the Geneva High School. She became a member of the First Congregational Church, now known as the First Congregational United Church of Christ in April of 1924. During the Depression, she worked at several stores and then she and her brother, Henry, bought a café. After several years she sold her interest in the café to her brother and then worked at the Eller’s Store for several years. She then became a medical secretary at the Fillmore County Hospital where she was employed for 13 ½ years before retiring to stay at home and care for her aged mother until her death in 1981. Lula loved to sew and in later years she took up crocheting and made many beautiful afghans. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her brother, Henry; and by her niece, Janice Fassnacht. She is survived by her sister, Dora Cadwallader; two nephews, Henry H. Blanke and wife, Phyllis, and Jack M. Blanke and wife, Margaret; one nephew-in-law, Harley P. Fassnacht and wife, Jo; four great-nephews, Daniel Fassnacht and wife, Janice and their children Eric and Kristen, Timothy Blanke and wife, Michelle, Gregory Blanke and wife, Julie, and Phillip Blanke; four great-nieces, Diane Crouchet and husband, Russell and their children, Stephanie and Megan, Annette Blanke, Lisa Blanke, and Carolyn Sullivan and husband, Dr. Michael, and their daughter, Emily; and Lula’s uncle, Henry Mussman. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Monday, September 10, with the Rev. Wanda Bennett officiating. Mrs. Carole Prater accompanied Curt Prater, who sang “How Great Thou Art,” “Going Down the Valley” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Pallbearers were Hugh Wilkins, Richard Hoarty, Derrel Hutchens, George Engle Sr., Ray Kuhns and Richard Wagner. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal September 13th, 1990 page 16.
