Etna, Iowa and died Saturday, October 9, 1943 at 7 a.m. at Creston, Iowa after an illness of one year. At the time of her death, she was aged 55 years, 1 month, and 23 days. Etna, Iowa and died Saturday, October 9, 1943 at 7 a.m. at Creston, Iowa after an illness of one year. At the time of her death, she was aged 55 years, 1 month, and 23 days. On February 14, 1912 the deceased was married at the home of her parents near Mt. Etna to Olaf O. Caskey. The three surviving children are Virgil Eldon Caskey, of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Betty Aileen Vasey of Omaha, Nebraska; and Edwin Gerald Caskey, who is serving in the United States Navy somewhere in the South Pacific. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Kay Aileen, one week old daughter of Sergean and Mrs. John Vasey; also by one grandson Charles, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Caskey. Surviving brothers and sisters are: Martin and Waldo Johnston of Corning, Roscoe Johnston of Prescott, Earnest Johnston of Loveland, Colorado, Chris of Winterset, Iowa, David, Clarence, and Anda Johnston of Mt. Etna, Mrs. Martha Hinton of Corning and Mrs. Bertha Henderson of Roanoak, Indiana. One sister, Rose, and two brothers, Daniel T. and James preceded her in death. She united with the Brethren Church at an early age; she was a devout Christian woman and lived a consistent Christian life. Her kind and loving disposition built around her a large circle of friends who will greatly miss her passing. Heartfelt sympathy goes out to her children who were not able to be with their mother in her illness and death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, October 10 from the Church of the Brethren at Mt. Etna. Services were in charge of Rev. Harry K. Rogers. Interment was in the Mt. Etna cemetery. Pall bearers were Manford Johnston, Marvin Johnston, Leo Johnston, Charles Johnston, Mayburn Johnston, and Lawrence Johnston.
