He died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Hooper. He grew up in the Uehling and Hooper area. He married Sadie M. Lindgren Oct. 16, 1937, in Swaburg. She died Jan. 11, 1970. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Dec. 18, 1943, to Dec. 3, 1945. He served in the Rhineland and Central Europe and built bridges for the troops. He died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Hooper. He grew up in the Uehling and Hooper area. He married Sadie M. Lindgren Oct. 16, 1937, in Swaburg. She died Jan. 11, 1970. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Dec. 18, 1943, to Dec. 3, 1945. He served in the Rhineland and Central Europe and built bridges for the troops. He farmed northeast of Winslow in the 1950s. He moved into Winslow and worked for the Winslow Co-op and later moved to Hooper and worked at the Hooper Co-op. He married ReAnn Kruse Feb. 13, 1971, in Hooper. He was an over-the-road semi-truck driver for 39 years. He worked for Hunt Transportation in Valley and later in Omaha. He moved to Fremont in 1979 and retired in 1993. He had been residing at Arbor Manor since May 21. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7419 of Nickerson, American Legion Post 196 of Uehling and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include: his wife, ReAnn; three sons, Charles (and wife, Rosemary) Forsberg of Omaha, Howard (and wife, Aloma) Forsberg of Oakland and Michael (and wife, Linda) Forsberg of Hooper; a stepson, Ronald Heckens of Lincoln; a brother, Leonard (and wife, Wilma) Forsberg of Valley; two sisters, Ruth Meyer of Fremont and Lila (Mrs. Max) West of Blair; a brother-in-law, Harold Voskamp of Fremont; a sister-in-law, Arlys Forsberg of Fremont; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, a sister and two brothers. The Rev. Phillip Vance of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont will officiate Monday's service. There is no visitation, however, friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. A military graveside service will be conducted by members of American Legion Post 196 of Uehling and V.F.W. Post 7419 of Nickerson. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; infant daughter, Elizabeth; son, Ralph Forsberg; sister, Irene Voskamp and two brothers, Robert and Eddie Dean Forsberg.
