She died January 18, 1901 at her home in Batchelor township. She professed a hope in Christ at 14 years of age, was baptized and united with the First Baptist Church March 6, 1887. She leaves a husband, four children, father, mother, seven brothers, one sister and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her departure. She had been a sufferer for a number of years, yet bore the afflictions with a true Christian fortitude. In looking back over the past life of the deceased, we should be grateful that by the Grace of God, she attained a character of such strength and beauty and as a Christian conducted herself so worthily as to enjoy the highest esteem, confidence and affection of all who knew her, and then looking upward and contemplating her present and future condition how gratifying is the reflection that death was gain to her, inasmuch as by the Savior whom she confessed and served here, she has been admitted to the mansion prepared for her in Heaven. Thus a noble life has lived among us and a glorious death has been achieved through the redeeming power of the Cross. Funeral services were held in the Union school house Sunday, January 20. The sermon was preached by the writer (her pastor), text 2 Cor. 51. The remains were taken to Greenwood cemetery, and deposited in the tomb to await the summons, "When all who are in their graves shall come forward". Fred Conger
