May per inscription, however) Johnson, 99, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1989, at Nelson Nursing Home. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may begin calling at the funeral home this evening. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 12, 1889, near Salina, the daughter of Oscar and Mary Hillgren (sic) Monson. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, she married Lawrence Johnson Jan. 14, 1919. He died Oct. 11, 1963. She was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, and a charter member of Philathea Sunday school class. Surviving are two sons, Willard A. of Greeley, Col., Herbert M. of Fairfield; a daughter, Doris M. Hildebrand of New London; eight grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Case of Mount Pleasant; two brothers, Gilbert Monson and Earl Monson, both of Fairfield. Five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
