Description	:	SIOUX CITY -- Lyle S. Munson, 86, of Sioux City Iowa passed away Sunday evening, May 30, 2010, at his home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. The Rev. Ray Kruger will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars L.A. Wescott Post 2253. Lyle was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Obert, Neb., to Severt and Emma (Miller) Munson. He attended Obert schools and then worked on the farm. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, being discharged as a seaman first class. He was married to Patricia Brown on Dec. 13, 1951, in Sioux City. He worked as head custodian of Younker-Davidson's Department Store in Sioux City for 20 years. He did yard work and he owned and operated Lyle's Janitorial Service in Sioux City for 40 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Sioux City. He enjoyed playing cards, working on cars, pitching horse shoes, watching the Chicago Cubs baseball, dancing and attending Munson Family Reunion's in Ponca, Neb. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; six children, Marlene (Ron) Ransom of Sioux City, Carol (Steve) Sorenson of Sioux City, Lesa (Wayne) Trudeau of North Sioux City, Steve Munson of Sioux City, James Munson of Sioux City, and Patti (Dan) Marsh of South Sioux City; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Sye (Laverne) Munson of Norfolk, Neb.; one sister, June (Bill) Harvey of San Diego, Calif.; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Munson in 2008; five brothers; and three sisters.
