She spent her childhood and attended schools in the community where she was born, coming to Kansas in 1918 and living her remaining years in and around Soldier. She was united in marriage to Orel E. Read More	Mabel Minnie Danford Smith Mabel Minnie Danford Smith was born in Henderson, Iowa, June 14, 1886 and departed this life at the Holton Hospital November 24, 1959 at the age of 73 years, 5 month and 10 days. She spent her childhood and attended schools in the community where she was born, coming to Kansas in 1918 and living her remaining years in and around Soldier. She was united in marriage to Orel E. Smith, December 7, 1904 in Red Oak, Iowa. This union was blessed with eight children; five sons and three daughters, one daughter, Anna Hoppe preceding her in death, November 16, 1948 at the age of 41. She is survived by her husband, O.E. Smith of Soldier and children: Mrs. Isilda Wright of Sidney, Iowa; Eugene Smith of Overland Park,Kansas; Ernest Smith of Soldier; Eldon Smith of Pasadena, California; Mrs. Velma Haag of Topeka, Kansas; Wayne Smith of Caseyville, Illinois; and Glenn Smith of Soldier. She gave her heart to Christ in 1925 uniting with the Christian Church of Soldier. Mabel was a devoted wife, a loving Mother and Grandmother, a good neighbor and true friend. The loving and tender care she gave her flowers daily was one of her greatest joys. She leaves also to mourn her passing 2 brothers and 5 sisters: Mrs. Simeon Danford of Blakesburg, Iowa; Mr. Harold Danford of Los Angeles, California; Miss Hattie Danford and Mrs. Julia Bliss both of Centeral City, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Johnson of Cambridge, Nebraska; Mrs. Blanche Edmondson and Mrs. Addie Fritcher both of Henderson, Iowa; 27 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held from the Mercer Funeral Home, Friday afternoon, November 27, at 2 o'clock. Mr. Claude Wright officiating. Floyd and Leonard Holliday sang two selections, "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "beyond the Sunset", accompanied by Mrs. Charles Haag. Pallbearers were Bob Markman, Dale Jepson, B.D.Flynn, Paul Tolin, G.R.Stanton and Jess Sproul. Those handling flowers were Mrs. Robert Markahm, Mrs. Dale Jepson, Mrs. Paul Tolin, Mrs. J.A.Sproul, and Mrs. G.R. Stanton.
