Genealogical Society Scrapbook A, page 274, Keosauqua Public Library; Keosauqua, IA Mrs. Freeman Bell Dies At Fairfield Death Came Wednesday Evening At The Jefferson County Hospital; Survived By 4 Children Mrs. Freeman Bell, 66, died on Wednesday evening at 8:30 at the Jefferson county hospital at Fairfield. For a good many years she made her home at Mt. Sterling until two years ago when she moved to Fairfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Sterling church. The body will remain at the Burnett Funeral Home in Keosauqua until time for the services. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lela Campbell, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Gilbert, two brothers, the Rev. H. F. Gilbert, Eugene Gilbert, two sisters, Mrs. Russell Bell of Sheridan, Wyoming and Mrs. Homer Rankin of Perry. Surviving are three sons, Gilbert Bell of Fairfield, the Rev. Eugene Bell of Calchaster, Ill., and Ralph Bell of the Merchant Marine who arrived home for a few days before his mother’s death. He had not been heard from in a long time, his mother knew him when he arrived. Also one daughter, Ruth Bell of Fairfield, four grandchildren, Mrs. Anna Ruth Campbell Stein of California, Keith Campbell of Fairfield, Ralph Freeman Bell and Patricia Bell of Lincoln, Nebraska and a niece, Mrs. Esther Arthman of Keosauqua.
