In communion with thousands of others they felt the lure of the West and in 1878 the family moved to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, and settled near Nelson. On October 2nd, 1884, Mr. Carter married Miss Susanne LaBounty whose family had likewise moved from Iriquois (Should be Iroquois) county (sic), Illinois, to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, in the year 1878. Mr. and Mrs. Carter made their home at Nelson with the exception of a brief period spent at Red Cloud and another at Sioux Rapids, Iowa, until September, 1924, when they moved to Lincoln. Four children were born to them, three of whom survive their father, the oldest having died in early infancy. They are: Geo. L. and Bertha V. of Lincoln, and Iva A. of New York City. Mrs. Carter, the companion of his years also survives. Mr. Carter, after a very brief illness, passed away September 29th, early in the morning as the day was breaking and the shadows passing. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. H.P. Fox at the home 4726 Gates furnished the music.etaolini (sic) Greenwood, Lincoln at 10:30 Wednesday morning. Margaret Gates sang. The body was then brought to Nelson and laid to rest in the old home cemetery at three o'clock. The three children and L. LaBounty, Curtis; Albert LaBounty, Farnam; Gilbert LaBounty and son, Arapahoe; Mr. and Mrs. Adolphus LaBounty, Wathena, Kansas; and Mr. and Mrs. W.H.
