Clifford who dies at her Florida home buried in Georgetown Monday. The friends of the bereaved families were distressed when they learned on Saturday afternoon last that Mrs. Paul C.Clifford formerly of Georgetown but more recently of Kissemmee Florida had passed away. One could scarcely credit the report when it was first told on the streets of the city that this bright and lovable woman was no more. Only a comparatively few intimate friends knew of her sickness and of ??? it was a shock when her death was reported. Mrs. Clifford was the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. Walker Cannon and at the time of her death was in the bloom of young womanhood being only 24 years of age in February 1916, she became the bride of Mr. Paul C. Clifford less than a year ago this happy couple removed to the state of Florida where Mr. Clifford engaged in the lumber business on a large scale. About ten days ago this estimable young woman was attacked by that most dangerous disease, influenza and her condition growing gradually worse, her mother was telegraphed for but upon reaching Savannah Ga the sad information reached her that her daughter was no more. Arrangements were immediately made for bringing the remains to Georgetown, the native home of the deceased, for interment. Sunday night the body reached the city and loving hands tenderly bore it to the home of the grief stricken parents at White's Bridge. At three o'clock on Monday afternoon the funeral services were held at Duncan Church in the presence of a large concourse of sympathetic and sorrowing friends. Rev. Henry J. Cauthen, the former pastor of the deceased and the minister who made the young couple man and wife upon being informed of the death, hurried from his him in Darlington to pay a last tribute to the memory of his friend and sister. Both Rev. L. L. Bedenbaugh pastor of Duncan Church, and Rev. Cauthern took parts in reading the burial services, after which the body was taken to Elmwood Cemetery where it was interred in the family plot. After the interment the grave of this splendid young woman was literally banked with the most exquisite and and costly floral offerings. In fact, so numerous were the flowers sent by sympathetic friends that the mound could not hold them. One of the sad features of this death was that the young husband of the deceased was prevented from accompanying the remains of his loved one to Georgetown to its last resting place, because of the fact that he was confined to bed in his Florida home with an attack of the same disease which claimed his wife. A deep feeling of genuine sympathy was expressed on all sides for the grief stricken young husband and the heart broken family of the deceased. The following friends acted as pall bearers Honorary Senator LeGrand G.
