She was born June 10, 1943 in Alexandria to the union of Simon Edwards and Myrtle (Fee) Edwards. Before retiring, Mae was an insurance agent for Central State Life Insurance Company and Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company. She also worked at the Coushatta Casino Resort as a telephone operator. She was an active member of the Freedom Baptist Church, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Myrtle Edwards; two brothers, Simon Edwards, Jr. and Sonny Edwards; and one sister, Dorothy Edwards. Those left behind to cherish her memory are: her loving husband of 60 years, L.J. Thompson of Ten Mile; one daughter, Lisa (Don) Gillespie of Otis; one son, Mark (Angie) Thompson of Ten Mile; one brother, Charles (Wanda) Edwards of Glenmora; one sister, Shirley Butler of Glenmora; four grandchildren, Zeth (Haley) Thompson, Justin (Ashley) Thompson, Brandon (Katelyn) Gillespie, and Tori (C.J.) Boswell; thirteen great grandchildren and a great granddaughter on the way; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Pallbearers to serve will be Mark Thompson, Zeth Thompson, Justin Thompson, Brandon Gillespie, Don Gillespie, and Toby Thompson. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Koby Thompson, Jayce Thompson, Lane Thompson, Randy Thompson, Gage Thompson, Wyatt Thompson, Preston Thompson, CJ Boswell, Cooper Thompson, Taigen Thompson, Karlee Gillespie, Kamyrn Gillespie, and Oaklyn Boswell. Visitation will be held in the Freedom Baptist Church on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., then on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 8 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. in the church.
