SHAFER DIED TODAY AT HOSPITAL Last rites at Hoskins funeral home Friday afternoon Mrs. Eli Shafer, 53, wife of a well known Jefferson county farmer, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital at 7:15 a.m. today. She had been a patient there for the past two weeks. Mrs. Shafer had been ill for the past two months, and was a patient at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. until she entered the Jefferson county hospital. Her condition became serious about two weeks ago. The family home is six miles northeast of Fairfield. Funeral services will be at the Hoskins funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery. Mae Louisa Shafer was born November 19, 1888 in Jefferson county near Brighton. She was married March 18, 1908 and was a member of the Lutheran church at Germanville. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Eva Craff, Pleasant Plain; and Mrs. Helen Parsons, Fairfield; and one son, Edward S. Shafer, now stationed at Camp Barkeley, Texas. One granddaughter, Ruth Arlene Craff, and her mother, Mrs. Louisa Miller also survive. Mrs. Shafer is also survived by the following sisters: Mrs. Helen Shafer, Fairfield; Mrs. Charles Bekel, Brighton; Mrs. Arthur Wiley, Washington; Mrs. John Burger, Pleasant Plain; and Mrs. Jake Burger, Brighton, and one brother, Raymone Miller, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
