Description	:	April 11, 1928 - Carroll Times - The death of Mrs. James O. McShane of Lake View, at the St. Anthony hospital Thursday morning, April 5, cast a gloom over the entire city. Many of her most intimate friends had not learned that she had been taken to the hospital Wednesday evening, April 4, suffering with typhoid fever. When she first took ill the disease was pronounced an attack of flu, but an analysis made at Iowa City revealed typhoid germs. Her death is doubly sad as a baby daughter, Phyllis Agnes, a month old, and another daughter, Marjorie Ann, three and a half years old, with the husband survive. Mrs. McShane before her marriage October 23, 1922, was Miss Mae Micka, of this city. She was a daughter of Mrs. Mary Micka and was born in Carroll July 17, 1894. She grew to young womanhood in this city and attended both the parochial and public schools. For several years she was a clerk in Light Bros. company store, and was a splendid young woman full of life and hopes. She was a devout member of the St. Joseph church and was also an ardent worker in the C.D. of A. Court. Mrs. McShane was a devoted companion to her mother who is heart broken over her daughter's death. After her marriage she and her husband resided on a farm near Lake View and although farm life was new to her she entered into it with her usual enthusiasm & was exceedingly happy & content. Besides her husband, children and her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. William Schrum of Michigan City, MI.; Mrs. George Hannasch of Remson, and four brothers, L.J. Micka and E.J. Micka Hibbing, MN, S.R. Micka of Smithfield, O, and J.B. Micka of this city. Burial was made in the St. Joseph cemetery.
