Description	:	Mae Rose Burris Almond Jolly, 85, of 37451 Melton Road, Albemarle, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle. Born May 17, 1924 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Rosa Belle (Burgess) Burris. The family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home, Inc. from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the hour of the service. At other hours the family will be at... Read More	Mae Rose Burris Almond Jolly, 85, of 37451 Melton Road, Albemarle, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle. Born May 17, 1924 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Rosa Belle (Burgess) Burris. The family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home, Inc. from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the hour of the service. At other hours the family will be at the home of Renae Tucker, 38955 Tower Road, Albemarle. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Mt. View Baptist Church. The Rev. Jimmy Caines will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. She was the first Stanly County female rural mail carrier and a former employee of American Efird Mill Company. She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church and a former Sunday school teacher, choir member and church treasurer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Altion Almond (m 1945); her second husband, Leonard Jolly; a son, Garrett Almond; three brothers, Grady "Bud" Burris, Craven Burris and Clifford Burris; two sisters, Daisy Smith and Gennelle Thompson; and a grandson, Johnny Brian Almond. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Tonya Jolly of Norwood; four grandchildren, Renae Almond Tucker, Wendy Almond, Regina Culley and Brian Smith; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to: Mt. View Baptist Church Building Fund, 44166 Mountain View Church Road, Albemarle, NC 28001 or Memorial and Honor Program-F, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
