It isn't clear which version to believe - they may have been married on April 8th, but the marriage not recorded until April 27th, leading to some confusion. Buried in this row of Heston family in unmarked grave in the grassy area with wife Harriet. They have put in that memorial that their Mahlon was the one married to Elizabeth Hodson, who remarried to Jesse Lamm. Heston family researchers should be careful, as these two Mahlon's are not the same person. Otherwise, a full text transcription would be provided. ---- "Batavia News", Jan. 24, 1918, Pg. 5, Col. 5 Mahlon HESTON, son of Samuel and Lucinda, born Harrison Co., Ohio, Aug. 3, 1848, died at his home in Fairfield, Iowa, Jan. 16, 1918. In 1852 moved to Bladensburg, Iowa, with his parents, and a few years later moved to Cross Lanes. Apr. 27, 1868, married Miss Harriett STILES in Fairfield. Seven children, four of whom, two boys and two girls, have preceded their father in death. Leaves wife and three sons: James, Luther and Charles; two sisters, Miss Jane HESTON of Libertyville, and Mrs. Sarah McCLEARY of Batavia, and three brothers: Douglas (?) of Libertyville, William of Havensville, Kan., and Absalom HESTON of Fairfield....
