Description	:	Phillip Goldie Manson Phillip Goldie, 89, of Denmark died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center in Burlington. Born Jan. 29, 1921, in Wessington, S.D., he was the son of Phillip Richard Goldie and Leota Adail Fruehling Goldie Nourse Christensen. His stepfather was the late Chris Christensen. Read More	Phillip Goldie Manson Phillip Goldie, 89, of Denmark died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center in Burlington. Born Jan. 29, 1921, in Wessington, S.D., he was the son of Phillip Richard Goldie and Leota Adail Fruehling Goldie Nourse Christensen. His stepfather was the late Chris Christensen. On Nov. 27, 1942, he married Lucille May "Lucy" Rhodes in Kahoka, Mo. Mr. Goldie and his wife ran Primary Oil Co. in Wever for 10 years before retiring and ran Goldie's Grocery in Denmark for 25 years. He was a graduate of Montrose High School. He was a member of Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, Odd Fellows Wever Lodge and Moose Lodge 5791 in Burlington. He was a past member of the Denmark and Wever fire departments. He enjoyed traveling, camping and dancing. Survivors include his wife; one son, Phillip Richard "Rick" Goldie of Fort Madison; one daughter, Gloria Gregory of West Point; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Umbarger of San Francisco and Doris Cameron of Pueblo, Colo.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, five brothers, one in infancy, and one granddaughter. His family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ. An Odd Fellow service will be at 6:30 p.m. during the visitation. The funeral for Mr. Goldie will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Chad Savage officiating. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ and the Kline Center. Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.
