Description	:	Marcilene Alice Britt, the only daughter of pioneer doctor, William Henry Britt and Martha Warner Britt, was born in Creighton, September 9, 1904. She spent her childhood here along with her two brothers, Percival William and Cladwell Thomas. She graduated from Creighton Public School in 1922. Then, went on to finish her education at the University of Lincoln. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Creighton. In 1930, after the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Washington, D.C., where her brother, Perc., lived. She entered government service shortly after arriving in the nation's capital. She distinguished herself in... Read More	Marcilene Alice Britt, the only daughter of pioneer doctor, William Henry Britt and Martha Warner Britt, was born in Creighton, September 9, 1904. She spent her childhood here along with her two brothers, Percival William and Cladwell Thomas. She graduated from Creighton Public School in 1922. Then, went on to finish her education at the University of Lincoln. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Creighton. In 1930, after the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Washington, D.C., where her brother, Perc., lived. She entered government service shortly after arriving in the nation's capital. She distinguished herself in the field of military personnel management in the office of the quartermaster general of the United States Army during WWII and later in headquarters, Department of the Army. After serving 36 years, Marcilene left government service, on to find herself in demand again. She was an executive for the next four years of the American Federation until her final retirement in 1971. Miss Britt was a staunch supporter of the arts and a devoted concert and theater goer. Among the institutions she supported were the Smithsonian Institute, the National Theater, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the the American Theater Guild. Interment was at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at Greenwood Cemetery in the Britt family plot. Rev. Olin Belt conducted the memorial in the Congregational-Baptist Church at 2:00. She is survived by her nephew, William C. Britt, niece, Bonnie Britt Green and great-nephew, Jeffrey Britt Latawiec, all of Ariz. and a sister-in-law, Alice Britt of Creighton.
