Born July 25, 1925, at Birmingham, she is the daughter of Roy and Alice Ramsey Mathies. A lifetime resident of Birmingham, she graduated from Birmingham High School in 1942. Margaret married William Lloyd Woodrow Nov. 28, 1946, at the chapel of the First Methodist Church in Fairfield. She worked as trust officer at the Iowa State Bank & Trust Company in Fairfield for many years before her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church, Haney-Brannan Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, Birmingham Alumni Association, she served on the advisory board of the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, the Birmingham Development Committee, the Birmingham Homecoming committee, she was treasurer of the Bethel Cemetery Association and co-founder of the Birmingham Senior Citizen Meal Site. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill on March 23, 1995, a son John L. Woodrow on April 28, 2003, her parents and a brother Elger Mathies. Surviving are her daughter, Kathy A. (Gary) Morris of Fairfield; two grandsons, Geoff (Libby) Morris, Eric (Allie) Lambert; one granddaughter. Laura (Carey Bender) Woodrow; one daughter-in-law, Marie Woodrow; and one nephew, Richard Mathies. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Private family burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, one-half hour prior to the service. Memorials have been established to the Log Cabin in Birmingham Park or to the Birmingham United Methodist Church. Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
