Foley, she was born July 27, 1887, at Oyens to Michael and Katherine Monahan Foley. She grew up in Iowa and married Henry Becker in Le Mars Jan. 27, 1909. They farmed in Iowa until 1918 where they moved to Farmer, S.D., area to farm. In 1950, they moved into Spencer. Mr. Becker died in 1956. Mrs. Becker continued to live at Spencer until February 1986 when she moved to the care center at Salem. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Spencer, the church alter society, the Spencer VTF auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Farmer and the Uniques Extension Club. Survivors are three sons: Dale Becker of Remsen; John Becker of Silver Springs, Md., and James Becker of De Kalb, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Margaret) Ditter of Kingsley; Lois Lussenden of San Diego; Mrs. James (Gladys) Leahy of Seattle, and Irma Burke of Topeka, Kan.; 36 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; a sister, Agnes Hentges of Le Mars, and a sister-in-law, Therese Foley of Gregory, S.D. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robert Becker of Kingsley and Clinton Becker; a granddaughter; a grandson, four brothers and two sisters. +++ Le Mars Sentinel, IA, Thursday, January 21, 1909 WINTER WEDDINGS Popular Young People Begin New Relations Charming Features Surround Affair Many Guests at all the Wedding functions Honor the Happy Occasion Miss Maggie Elizabeth Foley, and Mr. Henry Becker, were united in marriage at St. James Catholic church on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock, Rev. Father E. O'Farrell performing the ceremony. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Nellie Foley and the groom was attended by his cousin, John Buscelmann (sic/Buscelman), of Hartington, Neb. The bride was married in a beautiful blue traveling suit with hat and gloves to match and wore a pretty bridal veil. She carried a large bouquet of bridal flowers. The bridesmaid wore a pretty brown suit and carried a large bouquet of carnations. After the most cordial congratulations had been extended by the relatives and friends the wedding party drove back to the Becker home in America township where a most elaborate wedding feast wsa served to about forty of the relatives and friends. At three o'clock the young people left the wedding party and drove to LeMars where they took the 4 o'clock train to Nebraska where they will spend their honey moon visiting with relatives and friends. On their return to LeMars they will go to farming on the Becker farm, south of LeMars, where the groom had prepared a fine home for them. The wedding was most fittingly celebrated at the Becker home by the relatives of the contracting parties all of the afternoon and evening and the feasting and games lasted far into the next day. The young people were the recipients of a large list of elegant presents which were the tokens of esteem from friends. Both the bride and groom were born in this county and have made their home here all their lives and number their friends by the score. The bride is the daughter of M. J. Foley of Marion township, and is a young lady of many accomplishments and her genial disposition has endeared her to a large number in the location where she has resided so long. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Becker, of America township and is a young man of much excellence. Mr. and Mrs. John Becker will remain on the home farm where they have lived for so many years until about the first of June when they will leave on a visit to Nebraska, eastern Iowa and California for several months. On their return they will move to LeMars to make their permanent home. The out of town guests to attend the wedding were eight cousin's of the groom's and all live at Hartington, Neb. They are John Becker, Peter Becker, John Becker, Peter Becker, Joe Becker, John Becker and Peter Becker. John Schaeffer and P. A. Swallow also relatives from Hartington were here to attend the wedding.
