FOLEY Passed Away Thursday Following Long Sickness Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at nine o'clock from St. James Catholic church for William P. Foley, who died Thursday following a sickness of several months. Rev. L. J. Cooper will officiate and interment will be made in St. James Cemetery under the direction of Wiltgen's funeral home. Mr. Foley suffered a fall last February and in May he consulted physicians at Iowa City where they wre unable to give him relief. Deceased was born October 24, 1885, at LeMars, Iowa, and died at the age of 54 years, 8 months and 26 days. With the exception of two years spents at Plainview, Neb., he lived in this community all his life. He farmed until three years ago when he operated the Foley Cafe until November 1938. On February 14, 1912, he was married to Elizabeth Therens at LeMars by Rev. Feuerstein. Surviving to mourn are his wife and four children: Dorothy, Milton, Jean and William; two brothers, Robert, Salem, S.D.; Tom, Colome, S.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Becker, Farmer, S.D.; Mrs. M. E. Hentges, LeMars; Mrs. Julius Kass, of LeMars. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. John Kramer, of Epiphany, S.D., and one brother, Joseph. * Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, IA, Friday, July 21, 1939, pg. 1, col. 3 Life Long Resident Claimed By Death Will Foley Dies After Six Months Illness Will F. Foley, 55, life long resident of Plymouth county, died in Le Mars Thursday after a lingering illness. Mr. Foley had been in poor health since February when he was badly injured in a fall on an icy step. He went to the state hospital at Iowa City in May for consultation with experts but they were unable to afford him relief and he rapidly declined in health. Will Foley was born October 24, 1883, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Foley, early settlers in Marion township, where he grew up and was educated. He spent his entire life in this community with the exception of two years when he lived at Plainview, Neb. He farmed in Marion township for many years until three years ago when he moved to Le Mars and operated Foley's Cafe until November, 1938. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Therens February 14, 1912, the ceremony being performed by Rev. F. X. Feuerstein in St. Joseph church in this city. He is survived by his wife and four children, Dorothy, Milton, Jean and William; two brothers, Robert Foley, of Salem, S. D.; Thos Foley, Colome, S. D.; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Becker, of Farmer, S. D.; Mrs. M. E. Hentges, Le Mars; Mrs. Julius Kass, of Le Mars. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. John Kramer, of Epiphany, S. D., and a brother, Joseph. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. James church, Rev. L. J. Cooper officiating and interment made in St. James cemetery. Mr. Foley was well known in the county and was well liked by a large circle of aquaintances. Father L. J. Cooper officiating and burial made in St. James cemetery under the direction of the Wiltgen funeral home. The services were largely attended by friends and neighbors who had known the departed all his life. The pall bearers were Henry Campbell, Dan Cronin, John Krogman, Nick Wiltgen, Jack Watry and John Wurth. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Becker and Mrs. A. J. Ditten of Farmer, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Foley of Salem, S. D., John Kramer, Epiphany, S. D., T. J. Monahan, South Sioux City, Neb., Mrs. Henry Rooney and Miss Alice Rooney, Centerville, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Kuborn of Yankton, S. D., Mrs. Vincent Beacom, Vincent and Richard Beacom and John Gengler of Sioux City.
