Description	:	Margaret (McCrary) McCombs, daughter of Walter and Violet (Wicks) McCrary, was born May 28, 1938 in Buffalo Center, Iowa. She was raised in several Iowa towns where her father served as a teacher and administrator, including Sioux Rapids Consolidated School. Margaret graduated from Sioux Rapids Consolidated School in 1956. She continued her education, receiving a B.A. degree from Simpson College in Indianola in 1960 and a M.E. from Drake University in Des Moines in 1991. Read More	Margaret (McCrary) McCombs, daughter of Walter and Violet (Wicks) McCrary, was born May 28, 1938 in Buffalo Center, Iowa. She was raised in several Iowa towns where her father served as a teacher and administrator, including Sioux Rapids Consolidated School. Margaret graduated from Sioux Rapids Consolidated School in 1956. She continued her education, receiving a B.A. degree from Simpson College in Indianola in 1960 and a M.E. from Drake University in Des Moines in 1991. On July 16, 1961 Margaret was united in marriage to Richard McCombs in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. They were blessed with three sons. Margaret and Richard made Sioux Rapids their home until 1992 when they moved to Spirit Lake. Margaret served as a teacher, a school librarian and a guidance counselor for twenty six years. Some of the schools included Sioux Valley in Linn Grove and Peterson, Iowa, Aurelia Community School, South Clay in Webb and Gillett Grove, Iowa, and Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School. In 1993, she and Richard moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas where Margaret was the guidance counselor in Gravette, Arkansas, retiring in 2000. In 2004, Margaret and Richard returned to Spirit Lake. Margaret was a member of the First Methodist Church in Sioux Rapids and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. She had been active in Questers, Eastern Star, D.A.R., P.E.O. and the Sioux Rapids Historical Society. These organizations were all very important to Margaret and she enjoyed participating in each of them. Margaret later moved to Cedar Falls to be near her family. She passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at her home in Cedar Falls at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. Richard McCombs. She is survived by her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, John and Robin McCombs of Phoenix, Arizona and their children, Matthew, Benjamin, Andrew and Johanna; Paul and Dorota McCombs of Copenhagen, Denmark; and Mark and Stephanie McCombs of Cedar Falls, Iowa and their children, Catherine and Danielle; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kathy McCrary of LeMars, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
