Description	:	Margaret J. Francis was born near Lockport, Illinois, October 18, 1859. When a small girl her father moved his family to Gilman, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood and received her education. In March 1878 the family again moved to a farm near Nelson, Nebraska. On July 11, 1878, she was married to Earlis B. Gardner, who had established his residence at Nelson the year before. Mr. Gardner passed away 15 years ago. With the exception of two years spent in Washington State her home was in Nebraska until six years ago, when she went... Read More	Margaret J. Francis was born near Lockport, Illinois, October 18, 1859. When a small girl her father moved his family to Gilman, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood and received her education. In March 1878 the family again moved to a farm near Nelson, Nebraska. On July 11, 1878, she was married to Earlis B. Gardner, who had established his residence at Nelson the year before. Mr. Gardner passed away 15 years ago. With the exception of two years spent in Washington State her home was in Nebraska until six years ago, when she went to Long Beach, California, where she passed away on Saturday morning, September 18, 1948, having reached the age of 88 years and 11 months. She was a member of the Methodist church of Edgar, and the O.E.S. of Nelson. She is survived by a daughter, Ada, and a son, Earl, both of Long Beach, California; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren all of Long Beach. Funeral services were held at the Klawitter Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. W.W. Hull of Edgar in charge. Mrs. W.L. Portwood and Mrs. Pearl Clem sang, with Mrs. Nova Hite accompanying. The pallbearers were Cliff Lamb, Charles Chamberlain, Ed Portwood, Frank Belcher, Harve Williams and ----- Peters.
