She had been in ill health for the past two years. The body was brought to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Schott and the funeral was held Tuesday morning at 9:00 o’clock in Sacred Heart church where Mrs. Stelpflug had been a member for many years. Rev. Geo. Wessling was celebrant of the solemn requiem high Mass with Rev. J.J. Howley of Fonda and Rev. Cletus Keleher deacon and sub-deacon. Six great-grandchildren, Don Holder, Homer Stelpflug, Dick Lieb, Cletus Schott, and Eugene and Jack Milefchik were honorary pallbearers, and six grandchildren, Basil, Fred and Kenneth Stelpflug, Lawrence Holder, Art Schott and Harold Collins were pallbearers. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Margaret Kreul was the daughter of Elizabeth and Henry Kreul and was born Feb. 24, 1861, in Highland, Wisc., where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage April 23, 1879 with Nicholas Stelpflug and two years later they established their home on section 33 Center township. Mr. Stelpflug was engaged in the livestock business and they continued to make their home here until 14 years ago they moved to Fonda where they have since resided except for two years when they returned to Pocahontas. Mrs. Stelpflug was an active member of the Christian Mothers and the Holy Family Society. She was a typical pioneer wife and mother. Besides caring for her large family she always found time to assist with any affair that was for the betterment of the community. Mr. and Mrs. Stelpflug observed the 68th anniversary of their marriage last April 22. Besides her aged husband Mrs. Stelpflug is survived by nine children. They are Mrs. Chas. Schott and Mrs. Leo Wolken of Pocahontas; Mrs. P.H. Holder and Mrs. J.H. Collins of Fonda; Mrs. Lena Sherwood of Gilmore City; Mrs. A.J. Green of Florence, Colo.; Mrs. Ed Burke of Lohrville; and N.W. Stelpflug of LeMars and William of St. Louis. Five children, George, Henry, Jacob, Joseph and Mary preceded her in death. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Minnie McAlpin of Palmer and Miss Elizabeth Kreul of Highland, Wisc. and Jake Kreul of Canute, Okla. Contributed by Teresa #49560808
