Services were from the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. A. Redmond, and were in charge of the Rev. Joseph Andrews. Mrs. McMahon had been ill only a very short time, a heavy cold which she had contracted developing into pneumonia. Until then, despite her seemingly frail constitution, she had always been in very good health. Margaret Davidson McMahon was born at Verona, Wisconsin, June 14, 1859. Here, the youngest of a family of six, two sisters and three brothers, she grew to young womanhood. When she reached the age of twenty-three, she came to White Lake, South Dakota, to be with her sister, Ms. M. J. Proud. On July 6, 1886, she was united in marriage to Dennis McMahon, at Emery, South Dakota. They lived at Emery until 1907, when they moved to Miller, their present home. To their union six children were born, five boys and one girl. One son, Neil Fox, died in service during the World War. Those left to mourn her loss are her husband, Dennis of Miller; her daughter, Mrs. P. A. Redmond of Miller; her sons, A. D. of Miller; Lawler D. of Bakersfield, California; Dan of Woonsocket, S. D., and Dr. Glen M. of Brookings, S. D. She also leaves her two older sisters Mrs. T. H. Thomas of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; Mrs. M. J. Proud of Madison, Wisconsin and one brother, A. Davidson of Verona, Wisconsin. There are four grandchildren. She was a most devoted wife and mother, and a sincere friend. Her interests centered around her home and her family, but she also found time to cultivate a large acquaintance and she leaves a large circle of dear friends. Her nobility of character and her charitable works have exerted a marked influence for good on all who knew her. Her passing marks a deep sorrow that only God and time can heal, but her blessed memory will remain with her family always.
