The Rev. Richard Gorman officiated. Burial was in St. Ann's cemetery. Pallbearers were James Coss, Tommy Coss, Fred Hall, Fred Phinney, Ray Welbesand Ralph Porter. McMahon was born Jan. 12, 1883 at Emery to Dennis and Margaret McMahon. He came to Hand County in 1905. He served in World War I. Surviving are two brothers, Glen, Bakersfield, Calif., and Lawler, Brookings. McMahon, 71, whose death occurred at Memorial Hospital. McMahon had become ill two days before his death, and had been taken to the hospital on Thursday. An accountant, McMahon had for many years worked independently as an income tax agent, and was engaged in this work at the time of his death. He was born at Emery, S. D., and came here with his parents in 1905. For many years the family resided on the farm just adjoining the city on the southwest, now owned by M. J. Bute. In recent years he had made his home at the Miller Hotel. He was a veteran of the First World War, serving from 1918 to 19019, during which period he served overseas. McMahon had never married. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, and burial was made in the family plot in the G. A. R. cemetery. Rev. Father Richard Gorman officiated at the service, and pallbearers were Thomas and James Coss, Fred Hall, Fred Phinney, Ralph Porter and Ray Welbes. He is survived by two brothers, Lawler, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Glen, of Brookings, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anne McMahon, Miller, and several nephews.
