Aunt Ginny Gesler told me years later that my grandmother Sarah Goldsmith showed up several days later at Cary and Nora Shepherd 9 my other grandparents) . She demanded her daughter come home with her. Of course she didn't!!!! The Lima News Feb. 6, 1985 Margaret J. Shepherd, 72 died at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Medical Collegeof Ohio in Toledo She was born in Westminster, Ohio 25 July, 1912 to Joseph and Sarah Rockhill Goldsmith. 11 January, 1933 She married Floyd Shepherd who survives. Survivors also include three daughters Mrs. Howard (Barbara ) Tackett of Lima, Mrs. John ( Norita) Moss of Ft. Myers, FL and Mrs. Roger ( Rebecca) Thompson of Lima.; five sisters Mrs Jennie Scott,Mrs Ruth Heil, Miss Dottie Goldsmith, Miss Cora Goldsmith all of Lima and Mrs Mildred Benchoff, Wadsworth, Ohi; eight grandchildren and fivegreat-grand children- Services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Chiles and Sons Laman Funeral Home Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster Friendsmay call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday Notes:Mag, Marg and mom to us kids. Difficult personality. Dark hair, short full figured woman, great legs! Had the Goldmith Girls' voice loved to talk and tell family stories of her life. She met Floyd at the a dance park and fell in love then. Their marrige was stormy and full of life. Never understood her and I think she had many personal problems that needed help. She seemed to be very crtical of her oldest daughter. The other two she did not show much love too, but I think that was just her way. In later years she seem to grow more loving with her grandkids, but had certain ones whe liked more. Always loved the boy grandkids. She wore high heels in the 40's to do house work and always had a cigarette dangling from her lips. Loved to square dance, said she never learned to round dance ( two step and waltz). She finally found peace with our Lord just before she died in 1985.Miss her everyday , she was always for the under dog, very political and loved to read movie and romance books and magazines. Knew lots of gossip good or bad about the families and movie and television stars . I think that is where I got my love of history and family genealogy ! Norita Shepherd Moss
