MARGARET SELLERS Mrs. Margaret Sellers, who was seriously burned on the morning of April 26th while trying to start a fire, died from the effects of her injuries on Monday morning at six o'clock. She was at the home of her son, John Sellers, in Benton township, when the accident happened. In some unexplainable manner her clothing caught fire and she was seriously burned before help could be procured. Medical assistance was summoned immediately and all that skill and willing hands could do was done but to no avail and on the morning of May 2, 1904, she passed away. She was eighty-nine years of age and while it was expected that she could not survive many years longer the terrible accident which resulted in her death was extremely sad and greatly deplored. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Johnson, pastor of the Christian church at Russell, were held at the Bethel church on Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock, after which the remains were interred in the cemetery at Bethel. Miss Margaret Vanlandingham was born in Bath county, Kentucky on February 12, 1815. When quite young she moved to Putnam county, Indiana. She was married there to H. P. Sellers, whose death occurred several years ago. The family came to Lucas county in 1849 where she has since resided. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her children. She has been a church member for about sixty years. She first united with the Christian church and afterward transferred her membership to the M. E. church. She was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom are living. They are: William, John, Thomas and Wyatt of this county, James of Melrose, Mrs. Nancy Culver of Creston, Mrs. Jane Ratliff of Garden Grove and Nathan of Guthrie, Oklahoma. All were at her bedside when death came except Nathan. These sorrowing ones have the sympathy of many friends in their grief. Mrs. Sellers was a grand good woman who had lived her life well, doing what she could to help others and uplift humanity in general. Her tragic death is mourned by all who knew her.
