Margaretta Evangeline (Rops) Bossman was born at East Dubuque, IL, in a house overlooking the Mississippi River. She was born on Feb. 12, 1913, the daughter of Marie (Thoeni) and the Reverend John J. Rops. She moved with her family to Hermann, MO and Rock Rapids, IA before moving to the Lennox area where her father served as pastor of Turner County First Presbyterian Church at rural Davis. She attended Davis Elementary School and then graduated for Chancellor High School in 1931. On Jan. 29, 1935 she was united in marriage to Arnold Bossman at the Turner County First Presbyterian Manse, rural Davis. Following their marriage they farmed in the Lennox area until 1974 when they retired and moved into Lennox. Her death ended a marriage of over 66 years. She was preceded in death by her father on May 2, 1975, her mother on Jul. 28, 1983, a son-in-law: Verlyn Groen on Feb. 18, 1996; one brother John E. Rops on Sep. 23, 1996 and one brother-in-law: Harm Buus on Mar. 29, 2000. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Arnold, a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center; her four children; Helen Groen, Carol Bradford and her husband, Jesse, of Chicago, IL, David Bossman and his wife, Lori, of Alexandria, VA, and Nancy Pritchett and her husband, Rodney, of Marietta, GA; one brother, George Rops and his wife, Wava, of Lennox; three sisters: Menna Buus and her husband, George, of Lennox, Alice Kuper and her husband, Alfred, of rural Davis and Ruth Buus of Davis; a sister-in-law: Anna Rops of rural Lennox.
