Description	:	Ruth Buus, 94, died Monday evening, May 24, 2010 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. Ruth Elizabeth Rops was born on September 8, 1915 at East Dubuque, Illinois, the daughter of Rev. John J. and Marie (Thoeni) Rops. She came to South Dakota as a young girl with her family where her father served as pastor of Turner Co. First Presbyterian Church. Ruth Elizabeth Rops was born on September 8, 1915 at East Dubuque, Illinois, the daughter of Rev. John J. and Marie (Thoeni) Rops. She came to South Dakota as a young girl with her family where her father served as pastor of Turner Co. First Presbyterian Church. She attended Middleton School and grew up near Lennox. On February 22, 1938 she was united in marriage to Harm G. Buus at her parental home with her father, Rev. Rops, officiating. Following their marriage they farmed northeast of Lennox for four years and then moved south of Davis. In 1979 they bought their farm one-half mile west of Davis. Her husband died on March 29, 2000. She continued to make her home their until entering the nursing home in November of 2009. Ruth was a member of Turner County First Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, John E. Rops and two sisters: Margretta Bossman and Menna "Min" Buus. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Ray Buus and his wife, Lynne, of Sioux Falls; three step-grandchildren: Greg (Karil) Billings, Potomac, MD, Rick (Nyla) Billings, Irene, SD and Todd Billings, Huron, SD; five step-great-grand-children; one step-great-great-granddaughter; one brother: George Rops of Lennox; one sister: Alice Kuper of Davis; a special niece, Anita Oltmanns, her husband, Lynn and their family of Davis; plus several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010 at TurnerCo. Firest Presbyterian Church, rural Davis, SD.
