Description	:	Marguerite L. Burns, 85, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, October 3rd, 2009, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 7th, 2009, at Clemons Cemetery. Memorials may be designated to the family. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Marguerite Leone McKelvey was born on January 9, 1924, at home on the family farm in Clemons. She was the daughter of Harry and Marianne (O'Dell) McKelvey. Maggie graduated from Clemons High School and attended college in Ontario, Canada, while living with an aunt. She married Delbert Burns in Missouri, and the couple lived on the family farm after marriage. They moved to different farms around Iowa that they rented, including in Pleasantville, Ottumwa, and Manchester. Maggie had moved to Southridge in April. Maggie worked at Principal Financial Group, was a sorority house mother at Iowa State, and worked at the Marshall County Courthouse. She enjoyed working with the Foster Grandparents Reading Program. She had a keen sense of fashion and style and was very up on current events. Maggie had an acid wit and was sharp as a tack. Her interests included doing crossword puzzles (in pen), watching sports, especially Tiger Woods, and loved Anderson Cooper on CNN. Surviving Maggie are her granddaughter, Dawn Burns (Adam Anan) of Sammamish, WA; her grandsons, David Anan and another grandson due on October 16th; her brother, Byron "Pat" (Virginia) McKelvey of Legrand; her nieces and nephews, Greg, Paula, Larry, Pamela, and Doug; and her special friend, Ann Rolston of Marshalltown. In death, she has rejoined her husband, Delbert, her son, David Burns, and an infant son who died at birth.
