Description	:	Mrs Marianne McKelvey, 80, a former Clemons resident, died Monday, August 14 at the State Center Manor, where she had been a patient since January 17. She had been in failing health for several years. Born Marianne J O'Dell on August 23, 1891 in London, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Henry and Amelia Sumner O'Dell. She received her education and grew to womanhood in Canada and attended the Student Art League of Buffalo, New York. Read More	Mrs Marianne McKelvey, 80, a former Clemons resident, died Monday, August 14 at the State Center Manor, where she had been a patient since January 17. She had been in failing health for several years. Born Marianne J O'Dell on August 23, 1891 in London, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Henry and Amelia Sumner O'Dell. She received her education and grew to womanhood in Canada and attended the Student Art League of Buffalo, New York. On October 11, 1919 she was married to Harry McKelvey in Canada and in the same year they moved to the McKelvey farm and made their home until Mr McKelvey's death in 1942. Mrs McKelvey was a member of the Clemons United Church of Christ, a former member of the Clemons Progress Club, and a lifetime membership in the Central Iowa Art Association. Mrs McKelvey instructed art classes at the Fisher Community Center and in the Waterloo Art Center. Preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter Kathleen in infancy, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Byron F McKelvey and Wayne McKelvey, both of Marshalltown, and Mrs Delbert (Marguerite) Burns of Delhi. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a sister Mrs Gertrude Spettigue of London, Ontario, Canada. Services were held at the Chapel of the Estel Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 Thursday, with the Rev L T Proctor officiating. Burial was in the Clemons Cemetery. Attending the services were representatives of the Central Iowa Art Association. Bearers were Bill Helleso, David Burns, Douglas and Larry McKelvey, Ernest and Robert Ness. August 24, 1972 State Center Enterprise.
